Hoteltipps für Santorini

3 days in Santorini, 3 different hotels and 3 times impressed. I simply have to share these hotel tips for Santorini with you.
I know myself how difficult it can be to decide on a hotel when booking, because many of them make a good impression. Nevertheless, you never know whether they deliver what they promise. My following personal impressions will hopefully help some people in their decision-making process. You’re welcome.

Anatoli Hotel

The small, pretty 2-star hotel is only an 8-minute walk from the center of Fira and I was immediately impressed. The super friendly and helpful manner of the owner immediately made us feel welcome.

The facade, consisting of white plaster and stone inserts, is extremely attractive and well maintained. Overall, the whole complex, including the terrace area and pool, is in great condition. Our cozy and clean room came without any extras, but we had two balconies from which we had a great view of the sunrise in the morning.

The aforementioned pool invites you to relax and also has a decent size. Although we were there at the height of summer, it was hardly used by other vacationers, so it was nice and quiet.

The included breakfast is particularly noteworthy. On the one hand, the buffet offered everything you could wish for in a breakfast; from eggs, cold cuts, cheese, muesli, yoghurt, bread rolls and pastries to lemons, which you could pick fresh from the hotel’s own trees and use for your tea. Simply wonderful and such a nice detail.

On the other hand, the open-air breakfast terrace is really beautiful. The idyllic atmosphere, blue skies, sunshine and surrounded by the typical white Santorini houses. *dreaming* A thoroughly great breakfast experience!

We paid €105 for the room, including breakfast. A great bargain for the high season!

Aparthotel Phoenix

The walk to the hotel feels long, although it is only a 10 minute walk from the center of Fira. The surroundings seem less touristy and locals actually seem to be out and about here.

The hotel cannot be identified as such at first. It looks more like a slightly larger residential building, which is why there are only a few rooms here. So nice quiet and private.

The room we booked turned out to be a large apartment. It literally blew me away. The small terrace with seating area, the modern bathroom that sparkled with cleanliness and the impressive bedroom with its unique stone decorations.

Last but not least, there was the practical kitchenette, where a welcome drink was waiting. Simply fantastic and probably the most beautiful room/apartment we have ever booked. And just 10 steps away was the cute pool, which nobody was using – except us.

The breakfast included in the room rate was personally prepared by the owner. There was no buffet, but a sandwich and eggs of your choice as well as yogurt and some pastries. The selection was limited, but overall it was delicious and the personal touch was very nice.

We paid €120 for one night, including breakfast. The price-performance ratio is definitely right here, especially when you consider the facilities and size of the apartment.

Pension Costa Marina Villas

In the third accommodation, we were also welcomed by a friendly owner who made every effort to ensure our well-being. That seems to be a peculiarity of the Greeks. She was extremely helpful and kept us informed of the bus departure times without being asked so that we could get to our ferry on time the next day.

The guesthouse has the best location of the three accommodations; it is less than a 5-minute walk to the center. The bus station is only 6 minutes away.

The room we booked was a quadruple room with a balcony because there was nothing smaller available. The decor of the room wasn’t particularly modern, but it was still chic and had its own touch.

We paid €125 per night; breakfast was not included. It costs €8 per person and is said to be really good according to the reviews.

We felt comfortable in the guesthouse and you can’t go wrong with a stay here. The only downside is that the guesthouse unfortunately doesn’t have a pool.

Conclusion

In summary, we can say that all the accommodation is excellent and, above all, affordable. This experience also shows that if you are flexible, you can usually always find a nice and cheap place to spend the night even on the dream island of Santorini.
